The Compression was Conceived by Simon Max Bannister - www.simonmaxbannister.com
What really created meaning for me in this piece was the fact that it was exceptionally interactive in many ways. The negative spaces between the structures allowed one to enter the artwork from different angles as well as forming a complex range of lines, angles and textures once inside the central area. People could write on the structure with their own markers or paints as well as being able to pick up fresh coals from the fire to express their feelings - which greatly encouraged the ongoing involvement with the artwork once entering it...

This Project is a purely guitar focused in an improvised style. Very loose, rythmic riffs and subtle melodies expressing the sense of space and perspective we feel when looking into the night sky.
Natural Construction is an improvised twelve string acoustic album. It was inspired by being under the stars for 12 nights while building artwork at Afrika Burn 2013
I am gifting this album so feel free to download it for free! Or you have the option of making a donation.

I had the privilege of being a part of this sculpture installation, working along side a team of amazing individuals! The artwork was conceived and produced by Simon Max Bannister and was built in the desert at the now famous Afrika Burns art festival.
After two weeks of creating the structure, we added the final material.. Fire!

Wow it's been a long time since I posted here. A long time and thousands of kilometres later here are some pics from the latest adventure. The Grahamstown festival was an amazing ten day experience of art, music and theatre from all over South Africa and then we spent the next three weeks travelling up the coast through the Transkei all the way to Durban and then to Joburg. Time now for Landy to rest and get a couple of things fixed! It was awesome!
There is something about travelling 3000 km in a 1968 landrover. You feel a kind of shift in time as you roll down mountain passes, across plains and along old winding coastal roads. You'll never regret it when you do and there's only one way to do it - As soon as possible!
