Business Planning

These are some of my favourite Android Apps that I consider to be "Above Average":

Today is the start to a new business called "CyberSteam" I've decided to formalise my technology work again and this is it's new, dynamic form. Can't wait to start operating!

Iv'e been into the internet of things since the late nineties so Iv'e done my share of website building, online marketing, social media madness, online games, blogging and just about anything else you can imagine happening on the web. Im especially adept with research and I generally enjoy helping others to get their online systems moving swiftly.

I do my best to keep up with trends and im currently doing a course in mobile app development to further engage with the mobile software industry.

Ongoing Projects:

Websites: (IT consulting firm) 2013 - 2014 (Speciality cars website) 2007 - 2014 (Functional Space) 2008 - 2014 (Game Prototype work in progress) 2013 - 2014 (Prototype website)

Various social media groups and pages

Past Projects: (Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, Training) 2011 - 2013 (Property Auctions) 2012

Iv'e had this crazy idea for quite some time, just never had the information to really think about whether it was feasible or not. Anyway, I decided to start looking into how I could make this crazy, flying helium balloon fish that has a microcontroller inside it and small, lightweight mechanical parts to somehow bend the outer skin of the fish as a real fish does through water.

Design and experimentation is well in progress now and with the help of Summer I recently completed the envelopes for prototype 2. It will be a floating/flying fish that will be able to navigate on it's own and be able to transmit information back to it's base station..

Potential Applications:

  • Moving/Functional Art (OF COURSE :)
  • Scientific Research applications
  • Toys (Flying fish that kids can race around the garden - much safer than aeroplanes)

The way I see it, in order for technology to really be useful instead of a hindrance in our lives, we need to keep it current and as automated as possible. Often our tech can be a bit "time wasting" and frustrating so the answer in my mind is to keep as current as possible with the new technologies that are coming out, even before they come out..

New computing and software technologies like virtualization and cloud for example make life so much better because they reduce cost, allow faster growth while being more convenient and my favourite one is the fact that more up to date systems reduce the amount of hardware required to do the job which is better for the environment overall.

Of course im still waiting for the day we realize we can just plug straight into the earth and do all of this stuff directly without wires, circuits boards, and radio transmissions :) hehe, who knows what the future holds.

My oldest brother's company 3sixOH is the answer if you have a medium to large computer infrastructure that you rely on and need to have it managed more efficiently with cutting edge technologies like Virtualization, Cloud, Storage etc. More than 40 years combined in the industry, these guys really know what they're doing when it comes to IT systems. I realized a while ago that the best focus for starting any kind of robotics exploration would be to create one robot that can drive all the other kinds that are in the pipeline. One brain to think for them all!

Makes sense in a kind of efficient way.. Now I know the doomdaysayers will be saying ooh, here comes terminater or skynet bla bla bla. No these won't be killer robots, these are purely extensions of ourselves for fun, creativity and exploration!

My mission is to come up with better ideas for advanced machines that have useful, sustainable motivations driving their development.

Yes, I love machines. All kinds of machines, doesnt matter if they are concious or not as long as they do something useful! This is going to be a column for machine ideas!

This is a sketch of the core robot unit that im working on. It comprises of two wheels (still looking for those) A plastic chassis made from an old round piece of plastic which will hold the motors, batteries and a bread board (this prototype needs to be easy to add new electronics onto.) Then on-top of all that Im mounting a solar panel that will be able to charge both battery packs (so the robot will be able to go charge itself when needed.)

Still an idea floating around in my head, I have had this idea for more than a year now so I think I should do something with it. It will be a floating/flying fish that will be able to navigate on it's own and be able to transmit weather information or video etc. back to it's base station.
